Ridiculously Awesome Alternate Universe Posters

Friday, January 14th, 2011 by Price

Sean Hartter has created some ridiculously awesome alternate universe movie posters (think wrong actor wrong film) for some classic films. I am seriously freaking out at how awesome this is.

I really like Friday the 13th, Batman, and Ghostbusters.

Check out all the posters here. You can even buy them!!!

We’re actually both huge cat fans, but this short film by Jonathan Craig is still pretty awesome:

Mayhem Festival meets Revolver meets 1/2 douchebag

There was once upon a time when I would’ve given everything my 15 or 16 year-old self had for the chance to shake hands with Jonathon Davis. Those times are LONG gone (as is my tolerance for their “music” or whatever it is they’ve released in the past few years). However, this hasn’t stopped Vincent and I from buying tickets to our second straight annual Rockstar Mayhem Festival.

I think the overall lineup is not that bad. Lamb of God is one of our favorite bands, 3 Inches of Blood does some nice epic metal, and Norma Jean/Chimaira always put on good live shows.

There will be some bullshit there. I just don’t trust In This Moment. More importantly, I don’t trust any bassist who plays like this.

I also don’t like Five Finger Death Punch, mainly because their singer looks too much like Fred Durst mixed with Shifty Shellshock.

Regardless, there are some commemorative covers of Revolver magazine for this festival. It’s the kind of metal/horror crossover thing that should ideally make us jump for joy, and it probably will once we’re liquored up and buying shitty merch, but I’m just not there yet.

The show is a week from Friday. Stay tuned.

Nollywood

nollywood

I was never made aware of existence of “Nollywood“, which is a play on Hollywood/Bollywood for Nigeria’s film industry, which is apparently the third such largest industry.

Anyways, photographer Pieter Hugo of South Africa has done some photo studies on Bollywood, which has produced some pretty fucking evil imagery. Check out a summary on BoingBoing.

Fresh Blood: A Horror Anthology

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 by Price

It’s been a couple of weeks since the last post on Abattoir (the Rue Morgue blog), but this is worth checking out. Dave Alexander (the managing editor for Rue Morgue) has a story published in the anthology titled Fresh Blood, which features tales from emerging horror writers, published by Burning Effigy Press.

The collection gets a great review from Shroud Magazine, and if you’re looking for something unique and indie to spice up your book collection, give this a whirl. It also features stories by Bob Freeman and Kelli Dunlap.

I know I’m always tired of the same old same old, so keep it fresh. You can pick up a copy here.
