42 Days Until Halloween

42

42. For 42nd street in New York City. On which BB King’s Blue’s Club resides. In pretty much the most touristy part of the city. Which for some reason, is the most metal club in NYC.

I’ve seen some amazing metal at BB King’s. Meshuggah, the Haunted, Testament, Moonspell, and Obituary, all at BB King’s. Most importantly, Vincent and I saw Immortal there, which was probably one of the 10 most best days of our lives. We own the greatest t-shirt ever because of this show:

If anyone knows how or why BB King’s started hosting metal shows, please tell me. It really makes no sense. BB King, as awesome as he is, and even though I acknowledge that blues is the foundation for heavy rock and metal, it still doesn’t make sense. Especially in the Times Square area of NYC.

33 Days Until Halloween

33, for Meshuggah’s 2005 album Catch 33.

I’ve always been a fan of Meshuggah. Not a huge fan, but just a fan in the sense that I appreciate their uniqueness and musicianship, and most importantly to this blog, their evil ass sound. 8 string guitars? Check. Guttural spawn of Satan growls? Check. Sometimes annoying rhythms that are impossible to follow? Also check, but hey, you can’t be perfect.
