Mayhem Festival meets Revolver meets 1/2 douchebag

There was once upon a time when I would’ve given everything my 15 or 16 year-old self had for the chance to shake hands with Jonathon Davis. Those times are LONG gone (as is my tolerance for their “music” or whatever it is they’ve released in the past few years). However, this hasn’t stopped Vincent and I from buying tickets to our second straight annual Rockstar Mayhem Festival.

I think the overall lineup is not that bad. Lamb of God is one of our favorite bands, 3 Inches of Blood does some nice epic metal, and Norma Jean/Chimaira always put on good live shows.

There will be some bullshit there. I just don’t trust In This Moment. More importantly, I don’t trust any bassist who plays like this.

I also don’t like Five Finger Death Punch, mainly because their singer looks too much like Fred Durst mixed with Shifty Shellshock.

Regardless, there are some commemorative covers of Revolver magazine for this festival. It’s the kind of metal/horror crossover thing that should ideally make us jump for joy, and it probably will once we’re liquored up and buying shitty merch, but I’m just not there yet.

The show is a week from Friday. Stay tuned.

Wrath + Plague Plushes

In honor of the release (at least here in the US) of Lamb of God‘s awesome new cd, Wrath, and their coinciding “Escape the Plague” contest I present to you Plague Plushes.

You may have seen disease plushes, but I think these are more amusing. They appear to be sold without the slightest hint of humor or self-awareness. Just god old fashioned Old Testament DEATH. Enjoy.

Randy Blythe in a horror movie? I must be in heaven (or hell)

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008 by Price

I hate to just cross-post, but while reading about Brian Pulido’s new movie The Graves on Bloody-Disgusting, I noticed a very key point: that mother fucking Randy Blythe, one of the most evil (at least possessing the most evil voice) sons of bitches on earth.

Not only does this movie sound pretty good, but it has an amazing cast apart from Randy, including Tony Todd and Bill Mosely. Still, I am beyond pumped to see Randy in a horror movie. I’m going to take a guess that he gets a gruesome death in the film. One would think he would want it that way.

The fact that this movie is a creation of Brian Pulido is another win for all those who are evil. I remember his Lady Death and Evil Ernie comics as being some of the most gory and edgy comics when I was growing up, pushing the limits of what separated general comics from adult ones.
