SCHLOCKTOBER at Two Boots’ starts today!

Friday, October 3rd, 2008 by Price

Well well boys and ghouls (I just couldn’t resist), it’s time for the annual schlock-fest that is the Two Boot’s Pioneer Theater month of horror movies. If you live in NYC, than get your ass down to Avenue A and 3rd St as many nights as possible through the month of October for some good horror fun.

Every year, many fantastic and also god-awful horror gems are screened in the homely, campy theater housed next to a pizzeria. One screen only, high school auditorium style seating. It makes for the perfect evening.

So put your favorite booze in your socks/bad/pants and check out what’s showing. Some highlighted movies include Trailer Park of Terror, Tokyo Gore Police, a Bikini Bloodbath double feature, and even a Norwegian Black Metal documentary!

The Sad Little Horror Movie Villain Quiz

Monday, September 29th, 2008 by Price

You have all seen these quizzes, “What color are you?”, “What Type of Sandwich are You?”, “Which Sex and the City Character are you?” etc.  Well, thanks to our friends at Google, as I was working on the site today, I noticed an ad for the “Which horror movie Villain are YOU?” quiz.

Now I usually don’t partake in these types of personality tests disguised as a silly game. However, considering that this site revolves around the horror genre and my devotion to said genre, I felt it was both responsible and in my best interest to investigate for the readers.  You never know what you could find.

Crazy Awesome Horror Claymation

Friday, September 26th, 2008 by Price

Seriously, how amazing is that video? Vincent introduced me yesterday to this guy‘s claymation videos that he has posted to YouTube.

Not only are these things horrorish and gory and filled with pure evil, they are actually extremely well put together and are a pleasure to watch. Most of the time this sort of things comes across as over the top and cheesy, but not so here at all.

Watch the videos to your heart’s delight. Bloody Date v2 is another of my favorites.

The Midnight Meat Train, or “Clive Barker Getting the Shaft”

Thursday, September 18th, 2008 by Price

If you want to see a sad yet genuine display of girly excitement and childish behavior, witness Vincent and I watching a horror movie trailer over and over again, discussing how “sick”, “brutal”, “ridiculous”, or “yay!” the movie looks.

For myself, there is an additional multiplier involved when said movie is a Clive Barker vehicle.  Ever since I discovered Pinhead and the Hellraiser series, eyes-wide in my friend’s basement clutching a blanket and a 2-liter of Mountain Dew, I knew horror was for me.  Fast forward to today, and I am super-stoked to see his latest offering, Midnight Meat Train.

TERRORDROME: 2D Horror Fighting Game

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 by Vincent

Read that title again.

Very cool. Terrordrome is a classic (to most of us, anyway) 2D fighting game featuring the horror icons we grew up with. I can’t believe how fucking infinitely cool this sounds. It’s described as a “self producted [sic] game” and it is currently being developed by a team of clearly amazing, dedicated horror fans. You can head to the site now and download a demo for pc, and they promise the final version will be released “sometime in 2008.”  Sounds great to me.  Hail to the king, baby.

Free Screening of the Shining in Tompkins Square Park TONIGHT (September 17th)

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 by Price

It’s the last chance of the summer to catch the free movie series in Tompkins Square Park, and what better way to transition from summer events to fall (read: Halloween) events than a classic horror movie in the great outdoors.

Run to Tompkins Square tonight and get your horror fix, and if necessary your smack fix as well.
