Office Horror

Monday, February 28th, 2011 by Price

I showed up on Friday to witness the results of an office decorating contest we had, and let me say, I was in utter Heaven (or Hell, I should say …)!

Long story short, I work on a video product, and our theme was around this gorilla, who sucked in old shitty movies, and would “output” shiny ones. Either way, they needed to use a lot of old movie posters for effect, and ended up pretty much exclusively buying old horror posters, which made my day.

My team won the contest needless to say.

More after the jump …

After Dark Originals Announces “Husk”

Friday, November 19th, 2010 by Price

We love After Dark. I’ve also been seriously stoked about their Originals project, their latest foray into the horror movie “festival” concept.

They’ve recently released the first still (seen above) from their latest film, Husk, and I eagerly await its release. I’ll prime myself by watching some old films to die for this week.

Good read here. Talks a lot about The House of the Devil and how he tries to engage his audience with his films.

I’m sad that Cabin Fever 2 never got the proper treatment. Not fair.

From the Slate: It Was an Exceptional Year for Artisanal Horror Films

You only really need to read the 2nd paragraph of this short writeup on the Slate, but it’s a nice summary of the success of these sort of horror flicks in 2009.

Good read. I think I’ll have to come up with my own list once we pull our damn heads out of the ground.

The Horror! No Signal!

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009 by Vincent

You know why so many horror movies take place in the 70′s? Because
a) The 70′s were awesome
q) Some of them were filmed in the 70′s and the director didn’t have a time machine and
4) There were no cell phones.

Cell phones are stupid and ruin everything, especially horror movies. You’re never more than 3 clicks away from registering your current location on FourSquare.

So what do you do when you need to screw your helpless cast and your horror movie takes place in the current day? No signal.

NYC Horror Film Festival happening this weekend

Saturday, November 15th, 2008 by Price

If you’re in the NYC area this weekend, check out the NYC Horror Film Festival. It’s been held at Tribeca Cinemas, in you guessed it, Tribeca. Tons of great movies are making their premiere or having their official unveiling here, plus a lot of avid horror fans will be partying and mingling all weekend long, so if there was ever a chance to meet that special someone who will be OK with your horror-loving, toy-buying, I don’t want to grow up ass, then this could be that chance.

Wrestlemaniac … really???

WTF? Yes. I was thinking the same thing when I ran upon this title while perusing the horror film section at a local Best Buy yesterday. I was actually thinking, “you’ve got to be fucking kidding me, how ridiculously corny can this movie be.” Before seeing a second, I had rated this film “shit sandwich”. Apparently, it’s really awesome. Go figure.
