The Myers House. A.K.A. “Why didn’t this exist when I lived in NC?”

You may or may not have known that the Devil’s Demons is originally from North Carolina. Believe it or not, North Carolina is an awesome place.

North Carolina is also home to loads of awesome haunted houses, many of which I remember fondly from growing up. Like most ruralish areas, there’s just a lot of open space, woods, and crazy people to make really awesome and genuinely frightening haunted houses/barns/schoolhouses/etc.

One place that didn’t exist when I was living there is the Myers House. What’s the Myers House? It’s a replica of Michael Myers of Halloween fame’s house. And there’s all kinds of cool stuff going on there.

Shit to Do: Nightmares Haunted House in NYC

The Nightmares Haunted House is up and running again in NYC (already has been for a few weeks in fact). I went once and honestly wasn’t all that impressed, but that was before they had a badass website that pimps their place pretty good, so I’m thinking I’ll give it a chance this year.

UPDATE: So I may have spoken too soon … check out this review on The Horror of It All … sounds like it’s less bite than desired.

56 for the #56 out of 100 greatest metal albums of all time, Pantera’s Vulgar Display of Power, as voted on by the readers of the Greek edition of Metal Hammer (random I know).

Pantera are by far one of our all time favorite bands. Their albums have gotten us through many a bender, and we’ve been known to wear out copies of their CDs. They’re brutal.

Pantera can claim many Halloween connections. In general, the guys (R.I.P. Dimebag) are all extremely mischievous and are known to get into all kinds of trouble. They would drink all kinds of booze, wear all kinds of silly outfits, and destroy every hotel/venue they ever played in. Known for being practical jokesters, there was always some mischief in the air with those guys. They’re probably one of the last great bands to actually have fun with what they did, and not take it all too seriously.

Oh my, haunted house season!

Haunted Houses. Yes!

A haunted cracker house

I LOVE haunted houses.  More than that I love the idea of haunted houses. True story: when I was young (but not young enough), I would skip the house and wait at the end for the rest of my family to come out the other side. I was always stunned when they made it out alive. One year I finally gathered my cowardly lion courage up and with tears in my eyes and a load in my pants I went inside. Had the best time of my life. Naturally.

This year I’m doing things right and I’m starting early.  I always say I’m going to go to dozens of houses, but In the past I’ve considered myself lucky if I made it to even one.  This year I promise to go to at least 3.  I’ve heard there is one in Philadelphia not to be missed.  I’m going to talk about it tomorrow.  For now, here’s a directory of said houses.  Let me know if you’ve been to any good ones!
