So it’s taken me almost a year to write about Zombie Jesus, a publication via Champions of Hell.

Champions of Hell is comprised of the writer/artist team of Ira Hunter and Robin Thompson, and they have created a set of characters which includes the aforementioned Zombie Jesus.

At last year’s Fangoria convention, we stumbled upon Champions of Hell’s table and I was immediately drawn in by the bright and violent red covers of the Zombie Jesus comics. I bought all 5 issues available to me at the time.

Who is Zombie Jesus? I think you can figure it out. The books are half story, and half pin-ups, some of which are beyond brutal and sacrilegious, which makes me smile largely.

Zombie Jesus is here to fuck you up basically. The comics provides an interesting twist on the whole Easter thing. I mean, he was murdered. If you were murdered, and were resurrected, what would you do? Revenge of course!

Baby Tattoo books had a display. They publish the work of several contemporary artists like Ragnar and others.

Lucky for them, I hit their booth at the +4 beer mark, so I was more than ready and willing to part ways with my hard-earned moneys.

Not sure which part of this picture we were happier about, the beautiful holographic guitar pics or the shiny Budweiser. But they both cost about 4 bucks and were huge highlights in our day.

We stopped by Dirk Strangely’s booth for a bit. We chatted with the Texas-based artist for a bit, and came away very impressed with his work.

Obviously, we were attracted to this display when we stumbled upon it. Jeremy Selenfriend runs Monster in My Closet, his studio in which he does FX, makeup, props for horror. The examples on hand were visually stunning and quite horrific. Hop on over monsterinmycloset.com, and check it all out.

Sigh. Sometimes ,Vincent and I just don’t have our shit together. Which is why I am just now posting the first “real” article about the Fangoria Weekend of horrors.

If you’re in the New York or Connecticut area (I won’t mention tri-state, because I don’t think New Jersey is really a state) this weekend, then I think you have no other option than to check out Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors. I knew this was coming up very soon, but hadn’t checked the guest list in quite some time. There are loads of good reasons for checking the show out, including Dario Argento and Doug Bradley. Yeah, that’s right, the mother fucking Pinhead himself is going to be there in person.

This is the perfect summer event to remind you that all is not lost in the sun and heat, that winter is just around the corner a bit. There should be loads of scantily clad women there. That is, if you can handle ones not on the internet. Kidding, but seriously, we all love finding excuses to spend our money in new and creative ways, and blowing loads on things you could otherwise find in stores and on the internet is so much more acceptable when you do it in the presence of thousands of others doing the same. Us horror lemmings, we’re great.

EDIT: Please don’t forget about or neglect the MoCCa show this weekend as well. I myself am a supporter/member of the fine organization, so I won’t be missing this.
