The Physics of Hell

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 by Price

There is a pretty cool article in the Boston Globe which discusses the measuring of Dante’s Hell in some of Galileo’s lectures, which overall contributed to some of the more crucial scientific theories (and general shifts in thinking) from outdated abstract concepts (based more in faith and tale) to mathematics. Such as, if Hell were as constructed as Dante describes, the earth would have collapsed in on itself.

Really fascinating.

Jonathan Wojcik and The Arkhams – Valley of the Arkhams Video

Thursday, August 5th, 2010 by Price

This is pretty badass. The Arkhams are a psychobilly band from Queens (our backyard), and they have commissioned artist Jonathan Wojcik to produce a music video for their song “Valley of the Arkhams.”

I found out about the Arkhams video first, but started digging into Jonathan’s site more, and wow, I was pleasantly surprised to find some really badass stuff.

He has loads of other cool animations, notably the Fear Hole series also featured on newgrounds.

I dig his one-of-a-kind sculptures. Would go nicely on the desk.

Spend some time browsing. Good idea.

Frank Frazetta passed away today at the age of 82. He was an extremely influential illustrator of comic books and covers, and movie posters. He became synonymous with the muscle-bound gladiator type protecting scantily-clad women. An inspiration for all men I believe.
