20 Days Until Halloween

20

20. 20 years ago, in 1990, Danzig released Danzig II: Lucifuge.

We really love Danzig here. Sure, his music is great, but probably more great is how much of a jackass he is, and how awkward every interview ever conducted with him has ever been.

He’s also produced some great moments in film and song. There’s this great video someone made of Danzig’s shopping list.

There’s also the video of his talk on books, and of course … the punch.

PUNCH!!!

New Danzig Special Edition is Evil, Stupid, A Must-Buy

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010 by Vincent

I love Danzig.  I really don’t have any great justification for it, and I’m pretty sure listening to him makes me a dinosaur, but the man holds a special place in my heart and I appreciate that he hasn’t changed in over 30 years of music making. His new album, Deth Red Sabaoth (not to be confused with Red Dead Redemption), comes out on June 22nd, and of course there’s a kick-ass special edition available.  Look a dis:

54, for the age of Dee Snider, lead singer of the glam metal band Twisted Sister, and respected horror producer/afficianado, and also Glenn Danzig, former frontman of the Misfits, and still rockin’ metal mainstay.

Jumping The Gun on Halloween: Samhain’s Initium

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009 by Vincent

There are lots of albums that signify “jumping the gun” on Halloween to me. Most are black metal albums I listened to in college or goth metal albums I listened to in high school, but some are plain embarrassing and I have no excuse.  To show you that I really am getting ready for Autumn 2 days into September, here is a sampling of my recent (the last two days) “Fall has just begun” playlist:

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" was me jumping the gun on Christmas.

Awful, I know.  And they would all hate each other.  Paul Banks would literally kill himself if trapped in a room with Dani Filth.

But I’ve also been playing the hell out of Initium!

Blackest of the Black?

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 by Vincent

It’s been about 15 years since Glenn Danzig was the blackest of anything (makes no sense), but I still dig him and will gladly slap anyone who brings up that Northside Kings incident.  Also, his upcoming Blackest of the Black tour may be your last chance to catch him before he retires.  I’ll be at the New York show on October 15th at Roseland. Check his 53 year old ass out before his voice is completely shot.

PS- Even if you think Danzig sucks, you should definitely check out the tour website. The only thing it’s missing are animated gifs of a mailbox opening and closing.
