The album features my favorite song of theirs, Corporeal Jigsaw Quandary. Enjoy:

101 Days Until Halloween

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010 by Price

Official or not, I’m too excited to wait for this countdown any longer.

It’s now only 101 (one hundred and one) days until the greatest day of the year.

I don’t know about you, but I really love the number 101. It just rolls off of the tongue so well. “One-oh-one”. Easy money.

It’s also great for jokes when you reference the fact that “101″ is usually the introductory course for any college class. Examples could be:

  • Carcass got an A+ in Heavy Metal 101.
  • Disturbed got an F- in Heavy Metal 101.
  • Price (that’s me) got an A+ in Sexy 101.
  • Danzig got a B+ in Caveman 101.

Today’s reference is to Carcass‘ song Room 101, off of the Swansong album. We here love everything and anything that’s Carcass. Seeing them live was potentially the greatest day of our lives.

Swansong might be regarded as a relatively weak and commercial album, but it is still much more metal than any of the shit coming out these days. Listen and enjoy.

CARCASS SEEN, LIFE COMPLETE

WELL WELL WELL kiddies, Vincent and I have lived to tell the tale of the night we saw Carcass, the most brutal and seminal grindcore/death metal band in history.  We were expecting certain destruction, and destruction and brutality was delivered beyond our wildest dreams.

I apologize for the amount of non-Carcass verbiage in this post, but it provides very important context for how hard we rocked this evening.  The story begins after the jump.

Here’s the worthwhile shit going down this weekend in New York:

  • Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead will be playing Friday and Saturday night at the Pioneer Theater.  Friday night’s showing will be followed by the “making of” documentary, Poultry in Motion.  Saturday night’s showing will be part one of a double header, with part II being The Toxic Avenger.
  • Legendary death metal band Carcass is playing on Saturday night at the Nokia Theater.  Necrophagist is the opening act.
  • Weird-ass post-metal band (featuring members of Coalesce) Reggie and the Full Effect are playing at the Highline Ballroom on Sunday night.
  • Duff’s bar will be existing much as it always has (note: not really news).
