What you’re looking at here is an ongoing project entitled “Self” by artist Marc Quinn. A more detailed explanation is that you’re looking at a sculpture of Quinn’s own head made out of 4.5 liters of his own frozen blood. The blood is taken from this own body over a period of five months. The work is then repeated every five years to establish a unique record of the artist aging.

Artist Ray Villafane creates some amazing pieces. One of his mediums happens to be the pumpkin. Oh that just fits in with our theme too perfectly. Some of my favorites are Frankenstein, this Devil-Skull, and certainly, the mother-fucking Predator himself.

I mean, seriously. Check out this spread of tools he uses:

Holy Clive Barker, no wonder these things come out so evil-looking. I know of several mad scientists and sadists who could KILL for these.
