58 Days Until Halloween

countdown_58

Today my friends, we have only 58 days remaining until the greatest day of the year. Only 58 days left. Take a breath. You can make it. We all can.

58 leads us to something special to my heart. Puppets. That’s right, puppets. I fucking LOVE puppets. You know who makes great puppets? Jim Henson. In 1958, the Jim Henson Company was founded.

Things to Buy: The Twilight Zone Mystic Seer Bobble Head

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009 by Vincent

The internet is a big place, and it’s my job to direct others who don’t have 10 hours a day (otherwise known as work) to spend shopping towards the very things they should be dropping their cash on. That was a confusing sentence but I swear it checks out. Oh right, buy this!

mystic_seerFrom the awesome Twilight Zone episode The Nick of Time (starring William Shatner) comes this adorable bobble headed devil. I like to pretend that I’m past the age where I buy any and everything dumb I see online (approximately the ages of 20-24, explained here), but when something like this comes along all bets are off. I’ve already pre-ordered mine and come October it’s going to be agreeing with everything I say.

Update: The full episode is online right here! (I’m guessing US only).

Metalocalypse Video Game, I’ve died and gone to Heaven (or Hell)

So I can’t seem to post anything lately except references to Metalocalypse, but here’s one that is DEFINITELY worth mentioning. As you are probably aware, it will soon be revealed at the San Diego Comic Con that there will be a video game based on Metalocalypse’s Dethklok. JOY!

The aptly titled “Dethgame” will be a downloadable game for the XBOX360 and PS3. It will naturally feature Dethklok music in the background.

New Dethklok Album

Monday, July 20th, 2009 by Price

dethklok

If there’ s one cartoon Vincent and I love,  it’s most definitely Metalocalypse. If there’s one genre of music we love, it’s death metal. It’s no surprise that we like Dethklok’s music. And without further ado, we bring you Dethalbum 2. “They” released a statement today regarding the release of their new album, which will be available for digital download starting September 9th.

We saw them “live” once, and it was amazing. The album isn’t quite the same, but it’s still amazing. It’s also amazingly frustrating how simple it is for Brendan Small to write this stuff. I hate him.

True Blood: Season 2 Primer

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009 by Vincent

true_blood

I’ll just get it out of the way that I’m a fan of True Blood. That’s probably not a very big surprise, but it’s also not saying very much since it’s the only vampire show that’s out right now. It’s rare that any movie or television show with a vampire theme comes around and does anything but stink up the room with Cinemex-style sex and Silk Stockings-style acting. I really cannot think of any tv show, ever, that has involved vampires that I’ve remotely enjoyed.  YES, I remember Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and are you serious? That show was terrible and so was Angel, and if you disagree then I suggest you and your friends form a “Fans of the WB” club and wax romantic on Joss Whedon and at your local Borders Books. I’m kidding, I’m kidding. I very well know that you’re already doing so and you think I’m a rube.

Now that the haterade has been distributed to Buffy I will gladly admit that True Blood is not without it’s eye-rolling, embarrassing moments. The show suffers from some serious symptoms of WB-ness (I’m copyrighting that) that can make toleration a painful endeavor. Despite these symptoms I do think it’s a good show, and since the 2nd season begins in less than two weeks now is still a great time to hop on board and start talking about it. Don’t wait until it’s too late like I did with The Sopranos.

To kill time and to prepare you for season two, read along with me as I explain some (3) of the more awkward, ridiculous issues I have with my 3rd-favorite show:

Own this fine piece of art

Monday, June 1st, 2009 by Vincent

Chances are, if you read this site, your desk/office/bedroom is already covered in this kind of shit.  Am I right?  We’re all the same, but that’s ok! Now here’s one more awesome stupid thing to add to your already horribly embarrassing collection of bric-a-brac.  This beautifully crafted, 2009 statue by the artist Showtime features our favorite real-life superhero.

Blood-splattered dinner plates? Sure.

Monday, May 4th, 2009 by Vincent

Inspired by Dexter, designed by Spring Design and Art, this is a set of dinnerwear I think we can all agree is exactly what’s missing from our classy homes.  Just imagine when your friends come over for a steak appetizer, steak dinner, and steak cake desert and you serve them with THESE MOTHAFUCKAS.

At $60-$135 a pop for each plate, if you can afford this shit then you CAN’T afford not to have this shit.  Right?

After you’ve checked out the plates, there are other Dexter-inspired products as well.

Why can’t I have this?

Why are you keeping things like this from me?  What did I do to you?  Fuck you for not letting me have this.

Being Human, I drunkenly recall, is a good show

Monday, February 9th, 2009 by Price

So last night, I was doing what I do best, which was getting too drunk, making a mess trying to crack peanuts open, and flipping around the few channels I get free in London. One of these happened to be BBC3, and Being Human happened to be on. When Vincent originally wrote about this, I failed to put 2 and 2 together to realize I’d have a chance to watch it live.

As all of those BBC shows seem to run together, cut out of the same mold, it took me a bit to realize what I was watching. It became pretty clear when two people were essentially having a blood orgy in a bathroom. My interest was gotten.

The bit of the show I saw was very promising. As mentioned, the gore factor was a lot more intense than I would have imagined. Good strong language helped as well. I think this was the 2nd episode, so they were definitely in character introduction mode. I hope to rewatch the first 2 and get to see the 3rd on its normal debut time.

I’m hoping I have found a new show to follow now that Dexter is done for the year.
