Jesus Hates Zombies (it’s the truth AND a comic book)

Friday, November 19th, 2010 by Price

I stumbled upon Jesus Hates Zombies while searching for “zombies” in the Android Marketplace. You can download the first two issues for free, with the rest costing only a paltry $0.99. Easy win.

I appreciate an insightful title. Jesus Hates Zombies is about Jesus being sent back to Earth to, you guessed it, stop a zombie apocalypse by killing all the zombies. Written by Stephen Lindsay, it’s pretty hilarious, is broken into several short stories so it’s perfect for reading on the go, and is worth picking up. Download now!

You can also pick up physical copies of Jesus Hates Zombies books, Jesus Hates Zombies: Those Slack-Jaw Blues, or the epic crossover, Jesus Hates Zombies featuring Lincoln Hates Werewolves.

Warning, if you really love the Jesus (capitalized Jesus) you may not like this one. But you should still buy it/read it anyways.

Review: EEEK! Volume 1 from Asylum Press

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010 by Vincent

I love classic horror. Not just modern classics like Halloween, Rosemary’s Baby, The Exorcist, and Evil Dead, but old classics that more often than not drift into the realm of “camp.” I’m referring to Hammer Horror films, the MGM Monster movies and anything involving Vincent Price. No, these films aren’t scary, per se, but they are great at evoking feelings of evil and Halloween and autumn and darkness. That’s what I love about them: they are a completely separate entity from say, Paranormal Activity. They don’t scare me, but I love them just the same.

In that same vein, I love books that pay tribute to 50′s, 60′s, and 70′s horror comics. I doubt anyone has ever been genuinely scared reading Tales From The Crypt, but that doesn’t mean they’re not awesome (they are). Someone else apparently gets this, and that someone is Asylum Press. To wit: they’ve just released the first Anthology of their throwback horror comic, EEEK!

Apologies for the glare.

The Art of Marci Washington

Thursday, November 11th, 2010 by Vincent

I don’t know how I haven’t written about Marci Washington before. I first saw her art in Juxtapoz last year, and immediately loved it. Her work looks like a combination of Egon Schiele, Edward Gorey, and John John Jesse.  It’s abstract and demented and beautiful all at the same time.  Take a look:

Paint your own Vinyl Halloween Toy

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010 by Price

This is pretty sweet. Rose Art is selling blank vinyl Halloween toys.

The folks over at I-Mockery Blabber enlisted the help of an artist friend to try and paint some. The results are pretty awesome:

I wish I had that sort of skill. At least I’m a shitty writer.

Turn Your Stupid Ashes Into Something Worthwhile

Monday, August 30th, 2010 by Vincent

Dying sucks, but at least some people are doing something about it. When you finally kick the bucket, a company called Vinyly will (with a practice that sounds soooo illegal) press your worthless burnt droppings into a 24 minute record of your choosing.  I gotta go with (When I die) I’ll Cast a Shadow.
