The Weird Horrorish Photography of Daikichi Amano
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 by PriceI’m always a sucker for someone who claims to be a “perverted master of fish and girls,” which apparently Daikichi is. He’s also a master of just plain gross shit.
Do a Google image search on his name and see how long you can look at his stuff. Those of you into this sort of thing (you’ll know pretty quickly) will be amazed. Those who aren’t will most likely want to kill me.
Not for the faint of heart.
NYC: Last Rites
Thursday, July 1st, 2010 by PriceI’ve probably written about the Last Rites gallery half a dozen times on here, yet never actually went. Well, if you’re in NYC the weekend of July 10th, checking out the opening of a brand new group show called Lead Poisoning, along with a solo exhibit from artist Jason D’Aquino.
Very cool and dark stuff. Stuff you should like.

Monday, June 28th, 2010 by PriceAwesome horror web comic: Split Lip
Thursday, May 27th, 2010 by PriceI stumbled across this fantastic horror web comic, Split Lip.
Written by Sam Costello, drawn by a large roster of artists, Split Lip is a nearly-weekly comic, broken up into several different stories which range from bank robbers getting their just desserts to his latest story, which involves more of an internal horror, where the lines between what’s real and what’s in your head is a theme.
I’m going to spend some more time going through the rest of these comics soon (work only allows me so much free browse time during the day), but I recommend spending some time reading these. It’ll be better than a lot of the other comic garbage out there now on the internet, I promise you that.
Buy some stuff from their store. It’ll be good for you.
Italy is Evil Part 4: The Duomo in Firenze
Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 by PriceHoly shit. Nothing prepared me for the sadistic and grotesque fresco that covered the ceiling of the Duomo in Firenze (Florence for you uncultured folks). Our first day in Italy, we went into the Duomo but didn’t want to wait in the line to climb up to the top. However, I did catch a glimpse of the grim reaper in the painting, and that was pretty cool:
But until we got to the top and were making our way out, I was clueless as to the subject matter of the church’s centerpiece. At this point, I was doing the whole “yeah yeah another old church and some awesome art I get it” so I wasn’t expecting anything to particularly peak my senses. So to say I was pleasantly surprised would be a gross understatement.
R.I.P. Frank Frazetta
Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 by PriceFrank Frazetta passed away today at the age of 82. He was an extremely influential illustrator of comic books and covers, and movie posters. He became synonymous with the muscle-bound gladiator type protecting scantily-clad women. An inspiration for all men I believe.
True Tales Ov Black Metal
Monday, April 19th, 2010 by PriceSo I went to the MoCCA art festival this past Sunday, and bought all kinds of stuff. It was great. I wish it happened more than once per year.
One of several highlights for me was all of the attention I garnered for wearing my Immortal t-shirt. I had the pleasure of having probably 7 or 8 different people throw comments at me like “That shirt is fucking badass” and “You look badass” and “Your ass is BAD” etc. etc. One such admirer pointed me in the direction of a table (AW Illustration I believe …) that had a comic I might be interested in.
I picked up the above comic, “True Tales Ov Black Metal” and had a hilarious several minutes of a laugh. There are references to Mayhem, Immortal (YAY), and Norway in general. I’d scan that whole thing and post it, but that’s probably not nice.
Check out A Warner’s blog at http://aw-illustration.blogspot.com/. There is some black metal artwork there, among other awesome things.
