So I saw Predators the other night. I was really excited about seeing Predators, because I really loved the original movies. First predator-only movie since those shitty AVP movies. I was pumped.

And so I went.

And I was highly disappointed.

Here’s my quick bullet-point review. If you want something more in-depth, check out The Horror Chick’s review on The Awl.

• The kill scenes were nice, but too few in number.
• Adrien Brody has a terrible “badass” voice, and just sucked as a macho man. And his name has a stupid spelling to boot.
• Lawrence Fishburne was funny. He’s probably that crazy in real life.
• The attempt at comedy in certain scenes, like the “I’m gonna rape so many bitches” was pretty lame and didn’t garner laughs from me.
• The small predators are a bunch of pussies.
• The story was stupid. Did the predators buy these people from earth? WTF?
• No boobs. THERE ARE ALWAYS BOOBS IN PREDATOR MOVIES.

I’m always a sucker for someone who claims to be a “perverted master of fish and girls,” which apparently Daikichi is. He’s also a master of just plain gross shit.

Do a Google image search on his name and see how long you can look at his stuff. Those of you into this sort of thing (you’ll know pretty quickly) will be amazed. Those who aren’t will most likely want to kill me.

What a “fest”. What an awful display of human kind. What a moderate display of music. Also one of the hottest days I have ever experienced in my life.

Truth be told, the festival organizers did manage to put on a great show. The setup and execution of the music was spotless. I initially questioned their alternating stage approach, but it was pretty cool to have constant metal blaring for 5 straight hours until the main stage lit up. There were tons of fun and silly merch tents for us to roam around. And lots of wildlife to look at as well.

If you followed our twitter page, you would’ve seen our updates. Here’s a summary:

• Drank on the bus
• Started the day like anyone should before an all-day festival, drinking before noon in a dark bar
• Took the ferry over, saw some great jorts
• Got to the show and watched Norma Jean put on a decent show
• Saw this abomination that I couldn’t stop looking at
• People were getting tired of the sun pretty quickly
• Drank … and drank … and drank some more
• Saw more wildlife
• Watched 5 Finger Butt Fuck, who absolutely sucked
• Saw Lamb of God Destroy it
• Saw Rob Zombie put on a great live show, even if he was pretty much winded the entire time
• Left before Korn had a chance to get on stage (thankfully)

Official or not, I’m too excited to wait for this countdown any longer.

It’s now only 101 (one hundred and one) days until the greatest day of the year.

I don’t know about you, but I really love the number 101. It just rolls off of the tongue so well. “One-oh-one”. Easy money.

It’s also great for jokes when you reference the fact that “101″ is usually the introductory course for any college class. Examples could be:

• Carcass got an A+ in Heavy Metal 101.
• Disturbed got an F- in Heavy Metal 101.
• Price (that’s me) got an A+ in Sexy 101.
• Danzig got a B+ in Caveman 101.

Today’s reference is to Carcass‘ song Room 101, off of the Swansong album. We here love everything and anything that’s Carcass. Seeing them live was potentially the greatest day of our lives.

Swansong might be regarded as a relatively weak and commercial album, but it is still much more metal than any of the shit coming out these days. Listen and enjoy.

This is a goddamn awesome writeup (part 1) on Florida Death Metal. Really well-written, and there’s some awesome gore mixed in there as well. Give it a read, it’s worth it. Here’s part 2 if you really enjoy it (you will).
