60 Days Until Halloween
September 1st, 2009 by Vincent
The holy season is upon us. After suffering through the wettest, nastiest (I’m getting excited here) Summer I can recall in New York City, it’s finally September 1st. Price and I view this as the start of the Halloween season. We’re not going to get burned out on the big day by dwelling upon it every day for the next two months, but we will be making concerted efforts to see more horror movies (even dumb ones), buy more dumb shit, listen to more metal with black album covers, and in general act like 16 year olds. Let’s kick it off properly shall we?

Psycho, one of the greatest (and most original) horror movies of all time was released in 1960. Created by Alfred Hitchcock, it starred Janet Leigh, whose screaming shower scene would burn an indelible imprint into the genre forever. Over 20 years later her daughter Jamie Leigh Curtis would do the same with Halloween, but that’s for another day. Psycho is a classic film. A surprising number of people, especially modern horror fans, have never caught the original, so if you’re one of them please check it out. It’s definitely worth an hour and a half of your time. If you don’t already know the ending you may actually be surprised at how clever it is.
