I’m running around causing all kinds of trouble this week in the Windy City. More to come.

Chick Tracts, Halloween, Satan, The Church, and Childhood

Monday, August 24th, 2009 by Vincent

Have you ever heard of Chick tracts? If you grew up going to church (like I did), you most likely have, though you may not have realized that’s what they were called.  Chick Tracks are the hip name for a series of religious comics authored by Jack Chick, a crazy person who is probably very much like your grandmother.  The books were often given out at churches and other religious places that are exactly like churches.  They dealt with issues like abortion, drugs, science, smoking, and of course, muthalickin’ Halloween.

Today we’ll be covering the Halloween Chick Tract.  Here’s the teaser…

When Zombies Attack! A mathematical zombie adventure.

15zombiespan

A team of research scientists from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa have come up with this interesting paper which contains mathematical models which describe and predict various outcomes of a zombie invasion here on earth. Lots of maths in there, but an awesome concept, which makes me realize I picked the wrong projects to do while in college.

Criminal Macabre coming to the big screen

crimmacabre

As an avid Steve Niles fan, and a Criminal Macabre fan to boot, this news excites me greatly. I actually went on a comic purchasing hiatus for quite some time, before Steve Niles was big on the scene, and it was his comics which single-handedly got me back into ‘em.

A movie version Criminal Macabre is in the works, which is a spooky mystery series centered around a man named Cal Macdonald, who is essentially a detective who deals with spirits/ghosts/monsters, but in a cool CSI way which isn’t corny at all.

Here’s to hoping Keanu Reeves doesn’t get the part.

varg

An interesting article from a Norweigan website about how he’s adjust to life post prison.

FYI if you want to kill someone and only serve 16 years, move to Norway.

Found via a great writeup on StreetBoners.

More ways to kill time, and kill zombies (Daytraders of the Dead)

daytradersofthedead2

Tired of working? Well, here’s another grand flash game for you to get your hands on and waste some time with. Walk around and kill some zombies.

Look, the zombie is saying “FUCK YOU, you can’t kill me.” Look at him flipping you off! Don’t you want to go and kill him?

The game is all about being greedy, picking up wads of cash and jewelry while shooting zombies. Whatever. It’s a good way to waste time. It’s the whole point of this blog too!

The Occult Experience (1985)

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009 by Vincent

This film interviews many Occultists from various traditions including the founders of the Temple of Set Michael Aquino and Lillith Aquino. It also includes clisp from Anton Lavey’s Satanis as well and shows H.R. Gigers art..

I got nothing going on, but this is amusing.

Creepy Finger Soap

Finger Soap

Thank GOD someone else out there is getting giggly in anticipation of Halloween. In my second consecutive Etsy post, I bring you creepy finger soap, produced by Etsy seller ajsweetsoap. In addition to the fingers, they have some other Halloween themed soaps, including ghosts and vampire teeth. They look delicious.

Thanks much to my pal ohcallmeb for the pointer to this.
