Chick Tracts, Halloween, Satan, The Church, and Childhood

August 24th, 2009 by Vincent

Have you ever heard of Chick tracts? If you grew up going to church (like I did), you most likely have, though you may not have realized that’s what they were called.  Chick Tracks are the hip name for a series of religious comics authored by Jack Chick, a crazy person who is probably very much like your grandmother.  The books were often given out at churches and other religious places that are exactly like churches.  They dealt with issues like abortion, drugs, science, smoking, and of course, muthalickin’ Halloween.

Today we’ll be covering the Halloween Chick Tract.  Here’s the teaser…

Oh indeed!.

HERE is the link to the issue, read along.

Things start off Great.  Local redneck Charlie has rented a campsite for the school’s upcoming Halloween party.  Remarkably, he has chosen a campsite where apparently 13 people were murdered only one year prior (yet he’s oblivious to this – what must have been the biggest news story of the year). Supposedly this is the reason he was able to rent said campsite for such a cheap price ($50).  Let me tell you this my friends, if I could rent a murder site for $50 a day I’d be paying exactly $1500 rent a month and livin’ it up at my new home/murderous campsite.

Oh and then it’s followed by a satanic cat-murderer, a pumpkin-headed incarnation of the devil, and a 19-person body count.

I think these guys might be using a bit of hyperbole.  I’m  not positive but that’s the feeling I’m getting.

It’s undoubtedly the best comic book ever written, and all ends well (except for the 19 murdered children). Give it a looksy.
