Chair explodes, anal explosion, kills teen.
Saturday, July 18th, 2009 by PriceYeah, I did a doubletake when I read the title too. Talking about horrific things, this has to be pretty damn high on the list.
Fear[s] of the Dark
Wednesday, July 15th, 2009 by VincentNot the Iron Maiden song (though that’s also good), this is instead an incredible animated movie created by colaboration from six artists.
It came out in October of 2008, which upsets me quite a bit as I’m sure it played in NYC and I missed it. Regardless, we never covered it and we should have, so here’s the trailer.
Fresh Blood: A Horror Anthology
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 by PriceIt’s been a couple of weeks since the last post on Abattoir (the Rue Morgue blog), but this is worth checking out. Dave Alexander (the managing editor for Rue Morgue) has a story published in the anthology titled Fresh Blood, which features tales from emerging horror writers, published by Burning Effigy Press.
The collection gets a great review from Shroud Magazine, and if you’re looking for something unique and indie to spice up your book collection, give this a whirl. It also features stories by Bob Freeman and Kelli Dunlap.
I know I’m always tired of the same old same old, so keep it fresh. You can pick up a copy here.
Blood: The Shitty Vampire Movie
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 by PriceSo I saw Blood: The Last Vampire on Sunday night. By myself. With a bad of beef jerky and a Fresca. I’m not lying. Those were the only two things I could think of to buy in the store. After the brutal beating Vincent and I put on our bodies this weekend via metal and alcohol abuse, my brain was less than a quarter functioning. So it goes.
I was just so happy to be seated somewhere, quiet, in the dark, undisturbed and safe from the night for a few hours, and hoped that a nice horror/action flick would bring me some peace and a nice end to a rough weekend. Well, it became apparent fairly early on that my headache was not going anywhere, at least until the movie was over.
This movie sucked ass. I’ll go ahead and say it. I only saw bits and pieces of the Anime version, and let’s just say it does not translate very well to the big screen. Maybe none of those movies do. I dunno. But the acting was AWFUL, the effects were cheap and lame, and there weren’t enough hot chicks.
Stay at home and rent Fried Green Tomatoes. Seriously.
Oh Criss Angel
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 by VincentI hate you. We ALL hate you (ok, one brainless woman with enormous fake tits who used to blow an 80 year old man to get on tv tolerated you for a few weeks), and it’s because you’re unbearable. However, I didn’t realize just HOW unbearable you were until I stumbled upon this gem of you in your late 80′s/early 90′s heyday doing what you do best – looking like a 16 year old who takes his fashion sense from an Alchemy Gothic poster while singing like Poison. So thank you; in this Summer lull from all things frightening and evil, I’m glad to have this.
The scariest thing I’ve see all year:
Ed note – Trying to find the worst picture of Criss Angel was like finding trying to find the worst picture of Carrot Top- once you start you know there’s bound to be an even wose one on the next page. It’s a deep rabbit hole.
Fuck your Sunday comics. They’ve never been this metal.
Saturday, July 11th, 2009 by VincentNor have they ever aspired to be. I know most of the time I do a poor job of describing what’s going on with whatever bullshit I’m linking, and this is no different…. but if you were born in the period from 1977 to 1985 then there’s a 100% chance you’ll recognize most of these comics. They harken back to the days when the comics were still “the funny pages” and they were, in fact, funny…. *sigh*
Monty Python Reunion
Thursday, July 9th, 2009 by PriceI can’t make a claim for Monty Python being horror (or even horror-related, for that matter), but they influenced me greatly and contributed to what I loosely refer to as my “good” sense of humor. So I owe them loads.
They’re getting back together for a stage version of Life of Brian, although sans John Cleese unfortunately. This is a good news day.
P.S. MJ is still dead apparently.
MJ laid to rest (for now)
Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 by PriceSo since EVERYONE (including us apparently) are talking MJ this week, I might as well chime in too, on the day of his memorial service. Who here is concerned that Thriller will take place live today? MJ as a real life zombie?
I figure no one has anticipated a potential ressurection since JC, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if it happened.
Moonwalking ghost has hilarious soundtrack
Monday, July 6th, 2009 by VincentThis video is kind of stupid, but the ominous soundtrack and video editing make it worth repeated viewings. I can’t wait for colder weather, early evenings, and the fear they inspire.
