There are vampire bats killing people in South America!

Saturday, February 28th, 2009 by Price

Not really. But still an intresting read from Time. I was actually reading a book for a while on blood-sucking creatures with the intention of writing a review here, but my trip to London interrupted, as I had to return the book to the library.

Anything with the word “Vampire” in it always catches my eye.

Death Walks the Streets

Friday, February 27th, 2009 by Price

Fangoria is set to release a new series of comics for Death Walks the Streets, which is produced by Fangoria Graphix. These look pretty sweet, and I always look for excuses to get back into buying comics again.

You can check out the trailer here. Preorder the comic books here. Apparently these comics will span various storylines which may turn into movies etc.

Back in the game: I am buying Hollywood Zombies and Garbage Pail Kids

Thursday, February 26th, 2009 by Price

Shit, I cannot believe I forgot about these things. By these things I mean Garbage Pail Kids. I am not sure what inspired me to search around on them (probably some weird deep-rooted childhood thing that I don’t even want to think about, but will probably come out in therapy sometime down the road), but I am glad I did. Because the universe has expanded.

I am very happy when I can walk into my local grocery store (not bodega)

And buy this:

I can also get Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, and a few other rock/metal magazines. This makes me ultra happy. I can buy my beer and cheese, and pick up a magazine. I kinda feel like a soccer mom picking up some Better Home and Gardens or Vanity Fair after doing the grocery shopping, but one who drives a fucking bulldozer instead of a van. It’s the little things that make life great.

This magazine cover makes me ponder two things. 1) The prevalence of metal as an accepted and respectable genre of music in the UK. Not quite as much of an outcast genre as it seems in the States. And by that I mean I never felt ostracized for my liking of metal, but the “metal kids” probably do. Here, not so much. More power.

2) I love magazine covers with this much gore. Gore is much more accepted here as well. TV shows are much more violent, advertising is more violent, attractions (see Tower of London) emphasize the evil bits to attract the crowds. I guess on a historical scale, much more evil and bloody shit has happened here, so it’s more accepted. I don’t know, I don’t care, because I just love it all the same.

Speaking of the Plague, one of my favorite t shirts

This shirt rules. You should buy one. It’s metal enough. It’s black.

Buy one from the Northern Sun.

Wrath + Plague Plushes

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 by Vincent

In honor of the release (at least here in the US) of Lamb of God‘s awesome new cd, Wrath, and their coinciding “Escape the Plague” contest I present to you Plague Plushes.

You may have seen disease plushes, but I think these are more amusing. They appear to be sold without the slightest hint of humor or self-awareness. Just god old fashioned Old Testament DEATH. Enjoy.

Happy Birthday to the late Victor Fleming

Thanks for scaring the shit out of my grandparents with your rendition of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. You also gave us the Wizard of Oz, which was scary for its own reasons.

Do you dress like a moron? Do you already own too many pairs of terrible, Iron Maiden Shoes? If so, why not just complete your awful wardrobe with these pieces of shit. What better way to let everyone know how kvlt you truly are? Have fun.
