The Wicked art of Rob Sheridan

December 25th, 2008 by Price

I feel as though I’ve been missing something for a while by not having discovered Rob Sheridan‘s work earlier. When I stumbled upon the image above, my first thought was “PERFECT”. I wasn’t even looking for anything Christmas related, it just so happened that I came across this on Jesus’ birthday. Nothing says Happy Holidays like man-wrapping.

The majority of his work is quite cartoonish, yet he is still able to incorporate such dark images that truly transform the images from silly to absurd to just plain evil, all while mainting a level of professionalism and purity. For example:

The girl’s smile is what gets me. The eye staring back at me as well, asking me why do I keep looking at such images, why do I find something to connect with in these? It makes me at first feel guilty or shameful, but now that I think about it, it evokes a sense of pride, of acknowledgment in a darker side.

Another beautiful piece. Nightmares for me end up being the ultimate escapes, and in this piece I feel the horrific creature is completely harmless, leading the little girl into a better place.

Seriously, this shit rules.
