The Devil’s Demons Goes to London: Part 3a
December 18th, 2008 by PriceGarlic and Shots. Doesn’t sound very evil does it? Ohhhh but you are quite wrong sirs, quite quite wrong.
Nestled in a corner of London’s SoHo district, famous for its restaurants, rowdy pubs, and of course, sex shops, Garlic and Shots looks fairly nondescript to the uneducated observer. It’s just a restaurant with a bit funky name, nothing else.
You walk in. It’s your standard dark-yet-candlelit place, nothing special. The seasoned veterans walk right past the hostess, past the bar, and down the stairs into the cellar. This is where it gets good.
Firstly, the bar blasts metal. I’m talking Pantera. No Bon Jovi. Pure metal. And there are random bits of horror/death related paraphenalia scattered across the place, such as this bull skull:
Furthermore, the shot menu has a garlic theme to it (no shit). They have 101 shots. And shot #1? It’s called Vampire Blood of course, which is essentially vodka, tabasco, and garlic. Fucking incredible too.
You just get that feeling in this place that you’re cool and dark enough to discover it, so you deserve to play the part. Everyone in there seems to share a silent bond of acceptance, yes we know this is a gathering place of those who love things evil, although we might not look it. I find enormous amounts of solace in that fact.
I succeeded. Metal bar + evil themes? I am officially sold, and will be stumbling my way into this place several times in the near future.
